Google Maps API version1 Is Gone
Posted by Paul Rimmer / Wednesday, November 08, 2006 (01:22:58) / (5524 reads) Google

The day has come. Old faithful Google Maps API v1 is now officially offline. They definitely gave everyone fair warning to upgrade so hopefully nobody gets impacted by this. If you were using the old MemGooMap module that was built around API v1, be sure to upgrade to my new DF Maps module. It uses API v2 and has all the functionality of the old module plus much more.

Google Recommends Upgrade to API v2
Posted by Paul Rimmer / Tuesday, July 25, 2006 (03:36:31) / (2879 reads) Google

Google Maps API version 2 has been out for a couple of months now so its probably time to upgrade. They say v1 and v2 will co-exist for a "while": "Version 1 and Version 2 will coexist for at least a month no matter how few bugs are reported, and we may preserve Version 1 of the API for longer if people report many or complex transition problems". Based on this I'm going to get DF Maps upgraded ASAP.

Check out Google's own upgrade guide from API v1 to v2.

Maybe a Google Calendar Dragonfly module is worth looking into....

With Google Calendar, it's easy to keep track of all your life's important events – birthdays, reunions, little league games, doctor's appointments – all in one place.

Using Google Calendar, you can add events and invitations effortlessly, share with friends and family (or keep things to yourself), and search across the web for events you might enjoy. It's organizing made easy."
